How To Plant Irises

TRANSPLANTING IRIS BULBS (Soft roots)

Planting iris rhizomes can be done easily by digging a hole two to four inches deep. In the center of the hole create a small mound. Place the rhizome on the mound with the roots spread in different directions. Cover the roots and about half of the rhizome with soil. Leave the top half of the bulb exposed to the air.

DORMENT BULBS

Roots can be soaked in water until they become pliable. However, it is not necessary.

Simply dig a hole deep enough for the roots. Leave the top half of the bulb exposed to the air.
