About the tulips in our tulip photo Gallery

Tulips are most often planted in the fall so they will bloom in the spring.  They do better in the nortern states than in the south because they must have a continuous cooling period to survive yearly.  Most do not naturalize well in Arkansas.  Of the six species that we have planted, four are still blooming in 2010. The tulip tarda bloomed only one year. The appricot tulip bloomed for three years. The dard red and purple shades have decreased yearly and we will be surprised if they return in 2011.  We do expect the red and yellow tulips in 2011 which is yet to be seen.
