Green Plant Eating Worms
They look like they are straight out of a cartoon when it fact, these green worms were straight out of the garden. They will invade and devour a plant in just a few days.
This was the second batch of these worms that we found. The first time my husband discovered the pests (several years ago) they were eating a hedge bush. However, they were longer and at least twice as fat as the worms pictured. I don’t know much about worms, or what kind of worms these are, but my mother-in-law told me the horn is on the rear end.
This time when we found the colorful worms they were eating our tomato plant. After returning home from a three-day trip, our healthy tomato plant had been reduced to one skimpy stem. The worms ate both the leaves and the stems of the tomato plant. Although they are quite large for worms, they were still hard to see. They cling to the underside of stems upside down, and their bellies are close to the same color as tomato plants. |
